what will you be doing?

Every year we come together to serve, learn and celebrate the mission of Raise the Roof Academy. The mission week brings together all our students and residents from across all the villages that are served by Raise the Roof Academy. Our work is broken down in five categories, or teams. These teams include those of us from the USA, and our Uganda staff and volunteers.

1. VBS/Rhino Kid’s Camp

This team works with over 1,500 students every day to share God’s love through Bible lessons, games, skits, crafts, music, and sports.

(Need 12 people)

2. Medical Team

At no cost to the community, this team attends to sick students and adults from the community, provides dental care, runs the eye clinic, conducts medical checks-ups and provides medicines through the pharmacy.

3. Skills/Sustainability Team

This team provides workshops that empower people to own the solutions to the needs in their communities. These workshops include Leadership Development, Church Leadership, Teacher Training, Entrepreneurship, Skills Training, and much more.

4. Construction Team

This team works on various construction/carpentry projects. Possible projects include building shelves in classrooms, building tables, installing solar panels, painting, working on a water solution for RTRA, repairing tables and benches. The nature of the construction projects depends upon the skill levels of the team we recruit.

5. Child Sponsorship Team

Many team members sponsor children through RTRA to support their education. During this trip, we will have the privilege and honor of meeting our sponsored children and their extended families. This team will also conduct interviews and house visits for the incoming sponsorship class.
