Building the High School in 2023
As we close out this year, we want to celebrate with you and give thanks!
We started 2022 with several audacious goals. Among them was that the 300 children who had lost their sponsorship during the peak of COVID would not be turned away because we did not have resources to cover their school fees and tuition.
So, we turned to you and the entire Raise the Roof family of sponsors, donors, and volunteers to help us launch the Love Opens Doors Scholarship in December while we worked hard to find them new sponsors. We invited everyone to pray for the children and to give a little extra.
I am so proud of the amazing work we do together and I am happy to report that in 2022 we did not turn any child away. Because of your generosity, we have served more children this year across multiple RTRA programs:
In our Forever Family Program, we have served 345 students. All these boys and girls live on campus and have all their needs provided for.
In 2022, 95 students successfully sat for their Primary Seven National Exam, and we had our first class of 19 Senior 4 students sit for their National Exams.
Friends, I am deeply thankful for you and believe that together, we are making great things possible! In 2023, we have one resolution: to build the RTRA High School. Building the high school will give every child and their sponsor the guarantee that the investment into their education does not stop at the primary level but grows with their academic success for the future!
Every day, our children, teachers, and staff pray the RTRA Children’s Promise which is: “Never again will a child drop out of school for the lack of tuition fees or a school to attend.” With this as our prayer and promise to our students, we are dedicating our 12th year of operation to be the year of building the RTRA High School.
We have made this resolution with you in mind. Together, we can do this!
January – December 2023 Key Goals:
Construction team works year-round
Expand the Build the High School team
Share monthly construction and fundraising progress
Here is where you come in...
Make a 2023 Build the High School pledge
Share the Build the High School campaign with friends and family
Since 2020, we have used space on the primary school campus to set up the high school education system. With more students now graduating into high school, December 2023 will be the last month for the high school students to have classes on the primary school campus. Therefore, we have set January 2024 as the opening date for the new high school campus.
This means we must stick to a strict, year-round construction schedule to keep the building costs down. For these reasons, we need to have $100,000 available each month for construction costs. Below is an estimate of gifts needed at different monthly or annual levels. We invite you, and your friends and family, to make a pledge towards the goal of raising $100,000/month so we can complete the RTRA High School by the end of 2023!
With gratitude,
Marlene Ssebulime, Executive Director
